2000 AD adds Northern Ireland convention to 40th anniversary celebrations

2000 AD is very proud to announce that Enniskillen Comic Fest on 5th and 6th May will be an official celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic!

The legendary British comic is pleased to include the Northern Ireland convention in its programme of shows after last year’s very successful launch event and following the sold-out 2000 AD 40 Years of Thrill-power event in February.

And it promises to be a Thrill-tastic weekend with a guest list featuring Guests Of Honour John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra, as well as Steve MacManus, Alan Grant, Ian Gibson, Glenn Fabry, Paul Holden, Mike Carroll, Eoin Coveney, Ryan Brown, Ian Richardson and Clint Langley!

Paul Trimble, Chairman of the Organising Committee, said: “I’ve been a regular reader right from Prog #1, of course at that time having no idea of the part that 2000 AD would play in my life. Over the years I’ve seen it grow and evolve, sometimes taking a step backwards, but always breaking new ground.

“Now here we are, 40 years later and I’m still reading comics – and 2000 AD is still the first one read every week!

“Since launching the Enniskillen Comic Fest, 2000 AD has played a big part in our event programming and this year I’m very proud that we’ve been chosen to be a part of the 40th anniversary celebrations!”

On the evening of Friday 5th May, Comic Fest will present A Celebration of 40 Years Of 2000 AD in the Ardhowen Theatre, where the shows guests will be interviewed about working for the Galaxy’s Greatest and then take audience questions. Tickets for this unique event cost just £8 and are available via the Ardhowen Theatre website.

Enniskillen Castle will then play host to the FREE main convention on Saturday 6th May, with guests signing and sketching through the day alongside a programme of panel discussions and interviews, plus small press publishers, exhibitors, and merchandise and back issue dealers.

Friday 5th May will feature a Schools Programme with attending professionals presenting a range of talks and running workshops in Enniskillen Library, all aimed at local students.

Comic Fest 2017 will conclude with a Charity Auction with all proceeds going to the Horizon West Children’s Hospice.
