OUT NOW: 2000 AD Prog 2135!

Borag Thungg, Earthlets, and welcome to 2000 AD Prog #2135, your weekly booster shot of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic!

This prog we commence a creepy new folk-horror series in the shape of T.C. Eglington and Simon Davis’s scrotnig Thistlebone, as cult survivor Avril Eason and journalist Seema Chaudry head back to the village of Harrowvale to investigate the lingering myth of the titular woodland deity.

Needless to say, make sure you don’t miss a single episode of this nerve-jangling, atmospheric thriller, Terrans — indeed, it may make you think twice about taking that shortcut home through the trees in future…

Elsewhere, we have a complete Dredd story from Rory McConville and Inaki Miranda, the latest dispatch from the war against the Martians in Scarlet Traces, and the second arc of fantasy saga Kingmaker comes to its zarjaz finale.

That can only mean that a new Thrill awaits you in seven days, and I’m pleased to say that we’ve got more supernatural shenanigans inbound, for Gordon Rennie and Tiernen Trevallion are reuniting for the second book of Absalom: Terminal Diagnosis! The grand climax to the entire series, the crotchety copper and his band of demonslayers are heading into The Mills to save his grandkids.

Don’t miss it, humes!

JUDGE DREDD // TECHNOPHOBES

By Rory McConville (w) Inaki Miranda (a) Eva De La Cruz (c) Annie Parkhouse (l)

Mega-City One, 2141 AD. Home to over 130 million citizens, this violent urban hell is situated along the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America. Unemployment is rife, boredom endemic, and crime is rampant. Only the Judges — future law officers empowered to dispense instant justice — can stop total anarchy. Toughest of them all is JUDGE DREDD — he is the Law! Despite Dredd’s misgivings, robot Mechanismo Judges have been rolled out to support the human ranks — and others are equally unhappy…

SCARLET TRACES // HOME FRONT

Ian Edginton (w) D’Israeli (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

1968. It is decades since Mars waged war on Earth, and the major nations have access to Martian-derived technology, but Britain is still recovering from Martian bombardment in the 1940s, when much of the south of England was destroyed. This was followed by the arrival in the 1950s of two million Venusians, seeking refuge from Martian occupation. Now, the Martians have weaponised the sun, and are on the attack, decimating countries around the world, and mankind must find a way to fight back…

THISTLEBONE // PART ONE

T.C. Eglington (w) Simon Davis (a) Annie Parkhouse (l)

NEW THRILL! England, 2019. The secluded rural village of Harrowvale holds a dark past — that years earlier, on a farm bordering the vast tracts of woodland, it hosted a cult that was seeking to escape civilisation and find purity in the old ways, namely worshipping an ancient deity called THISTLEBONE. Led by the charismatic Jasper Hillman, their pagan beliefs grew ever more radical to the point where they held the young Avril Eason captive with the intention of sacrificing her. But Avril escaped…

KINGMAKER // OUROBOROS

Ian Edginton (w) Leigh Gallagher (a) Ellie De Ville (l)

The people of the Nine Kingdoms may have defeated Ichnar the Wraith King to live in relative peace and harmony, but they hadn’t reckoned on the Thorn — a race of aliens that occupied their world with the intention of strip-mining its magic. Wizard Ablard, ork Crixus and dryad Princess Yarrow believe they may have the means to stop them — not least because Crixus can somehow conjure the Ebora, the world-spirit. Having been visited by a manifestation of the Ebora, Crixus now plans to unite the races…
