The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast: Michael Carroll – comics, prose and the origins of Judge Dredd
30th May 2018
This summer, Irish comic book writer and author Michael Carroll has launched a new novella series tracing the earliest days of the Judges – and the 2000 AD podcast chats to him about the first installment, The Avalanche!
The Judges series from Abaddon Books is set in the 2030s as the USA is beset by widespread poverty, inequality and political unrest. Special Prosecutor Eustace Fargo’s controversial new justice laws have come into effect and the Judges have hit the streets. But, in middle America, will the cure be worse than the disease?
Carroll discusses the convergence of comics and prose, what it takes to delve into the back story created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra in Judge Dredd: Origins, and the methods behind his own writing.
