A Thrill-powered year – unveiling 2000 AD’s collections schedule for 2021!
18th January 2021
From new editions of comic book classics to new characters and new formats, the 2000 AD graphic novel schedule promises a Thrill-filled 2021!
With the new year now underway, Rebellion is delighted to unveil the full schedule of 2000 AD graphic novel collections.
The line-up includes special limited hardcover editions only available from the 2000 AD webshop as well as a new series of digital-only releases, available from the 2000 AD webshop and app, that bring long out-of-print series out of the archives and on to digital devices.
The all-ages revolution at the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic continues with two collections of 2000 AD Regened (January & July), the regular all-ages specials that bring new and classic characters to whole new generations of readers, that have been a huge hit over the past two years!
Full Tilt Boogie (May) by Alex De Campi (Madi) and Eduardo Ocaña (Messiah Complex) is one of this year’s tentpole releases – a planet-conquering, prince-rescuing, and ramen-eating new space opera, described by The Hollywood Reporter as “Saga meets The Last Airbender”. Young Tee is a wannabe bounty hunter who, along with her grandmother and cat, takes odd-jobs while flying across the galaxy in her ship, the Full Tilt Boogie, constantly on the lookout for a bigger, better payday!
The ‘folk horror’ revival comes to 2000 AD with the collection of Thistlebone (April) by TC Eglington (Judge Dredd) and Simon Davis (Sinister Dexter), a chilling story about a secluded rural village that holds a dark secret…
Finally back into print and presented in a brand new edition with colour pages lovingly restored, the 2000 AD adaptation by writer Kelvin Gosnell of SF writer Harry Harrison’s The Stainless Steel Rat (August) features explosive art from Judge Dredd co-creator Carlos Ezquerra. “Slippery” Jim diGriz is one of the most memorable characters in SF – a con man and a thief but also a member of an elite law-enforcement agency known as the Special Corps!
The autumn’s biggest release is the collection of Sláine: Dragontamer (September) by Pat Mills (Marshal Law), featuring the breathtaking fully-painted art of Leonardo Manco (Hellblazer) that evokes the legacy of the groundbreaking work of Simon Bisley on Sláine: The Horned God while also breathing new life into one of 2000 AD’s signature characters.
And fans of future lawman Judge Dredd will not be disappointed, with three new volumes in the best-selling Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files (February, July, December) series, as well as collections of new stories – including John Wagner (A History of Violence), Colin MacNeil (Judge Dredd) and Dan Cornwell’s (Rok of the Reds) political potboiler Judge Dredd: Guatemala (June) and Rob Williams (Suicide Squad), Henry Flint (Zombo) and Colin MacNeil’s stand-alone apocalyptic epic Judge Dredd: End of Days (March). There’s also a collection of the fascinating future noir ‘elseworlds’ series Megatropolis (October), written by Kenneth Niemand (Judge Dredd) and with gorgeous artwork by Dave Taylor (Batman & Superman: World’s Finest), and Judge Dredd: Dreadnoughts (November) by Michael Carroll (Jennifer Blood) and John Higgins (Watchmen), a hard-hitting and all-too-prescient series which charts the rise of the Judges in a world of political and social chaos.
Ben Smith, Rebellion’s head of film, TV and publishing, said: “The second golden age of 2000 AD goes from strength to strength with brand new thrills like Thistlebone and Full Tilt Boogie jostling shoulders with sparkling new editions of stone cold classics such as Essential Judge Dredd: The Apocalypse War. We’ve increased our graphic novel releases by a third with an all-new digital line, not to mention looking to the future and a new generation of readers with the paperback editions of 2000 AD‘s all-ages Regened series. We have never been as focused on bringing as much thrill power to every reader as we are now.”
2000 AD’s graphic novels are available from all good booksellers and through the 2000 AD webshop, as well as digitally on Amazon Kindle and DRM-free through the 2000 AD webshop and app.
