Burger Wars, bogeymen, bad bots – what’s out from 2000 AD this week?
13th July 2016
It’s a bumper week of releases from The House of Tharg – make sure you grab one of the zarjaz new releases from 2000 AD!
2000 AD Prog 1989 continues to up the ante in Judge Dredd: Reclamation and Brink, as well as Black Shuck, Scarlet Traces, and a stand-alone Future Shock!
After almost 40 years, The Cursed Earth is having its notorious ‘banned’ episodes restored in a gorgeous hardcover edition. Removed from every reprint since, ‘Burger Wars’ and ‘Soul Food’ deliver a hilarious parody on American-style consumerism but were considered too risky by publisher IPC’s lawyers. ‘Soul Food’ writer Chris Lowder, AKA Jack Adrian, spoke to the 2000 AD podcast recently about his work on the infamous storyline. This is the first time this series has been collected in its entirety, plus the stunning colour centre spreads have been restored – making this a must have for any collection !
Alan Moore, John Wagner, and Alan Grant – plus artwork from Jesus Redondo – Monster is a gem from the pages of the short-lived Scream! comic in the early 1980s. The 2000 AD podcast also recently talked to editor Ian Rimmer about his work on the title, which featured this horror-cliché-turned-road-trip series from the last golden age of British childrens’ comics.
And ABC Warriors: Return to Ro-Busters is also out, with Pat Mills deliveing another action packed, sardonic tale of a future where the robots are more human than the people.
