Running in 2000 AD Progs 140 to 175 from 1979 to 1980, The VCs is set in the year 2531 AD when the Solar System is engaged in a vicious war against the alien ‘Geeks’, a merciless adversary whose insect-like fighters swarm the space lanes and pose a deadly trap for any Earth ship.
Steve Smith is a raw recruit, fresh out of training and ready for action, assigned to a space patrol ship crewed by The VCs (or Vacuum Cleaners).
But Smith is a little out of place, as he is the only Earth-born crew member and, as the war grows in intensity, Smith finds himself struggling for acceptance.
The VCs is one of the best classic series from old school 2000 AD. Written by Gerry Finley-Day (Rogue Trooper) with incredible art by Mike McMahon (Judge Dredd), Cam Kennedy (Star Wars), Garry Leach (Marvelman), and John Richardson (The Nightcomers)
