2000 AD Prog 2379 out now!

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2379 is OUT NOW!

I am The Mighty Tharg, bringer of Thrills to a planet beset by brain-sapping mundanity!

Yes, it’s that time of the week again, my Squaxx, when you get to escape everyday reality — if just for the time it takes to peruse and absorb these pulse-pounding pages — and be transported to the circuit-shattering worlds of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic. Inside this ghafflebette prog, you’ll find the latest high-octane instalments of Judge Dredd, Brink, Aquila, Proteus Vex and Indigo Prime, brought to you by the fevered imaginations of my creator droids.

Chained as they are in their work-cubicles, channelling every key-tap and pencil-stroke through my office so I get to oversee the entire process and ensure that it’s all at the necessary level of zarjazosity, the whole Command Module meshes together as a finely tuned machine… staffed by machines! Many of you may be wondering, is this a utopian vision of the future I can get behind — mechanoids programmed to deliver high-intensity entertainment under the direct rule of an alien overlord, who demands nothing less than total subservience?

Well, all I can say is, it works for me — and the end result is pretty damn scrotnig!

2000 AD Prog 2379 is out now from all good newsagents and comic book stores, plus digitally from our webshop and apps! Don’t forget that if you buy an issue of 2000 AD in the first week of its release then postage in the UK is free!

2000 AD Prog 2378 out now!

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2378 is OUT NOW!

Call me The Mighty Tharg, universally renowned purveyor of Thrills — the future is now!

One of the most popular of modern 2000 AD series returns this prog as the sixth book of Brink commences within these pages, courtesy as ever of the Abnett and Culbard droids. While 2022’s previous arc, Mercury Retrograde, took a deviation and followed journalist Nolan Maslow’s parallel investigation into sect activity, in Consumed we’re back with HSD officer Bridget Kurtis, stopping over at Belleholme Habitat and about to become embroiled in a spate of murders…

With Brink joining the scrotnig likes of Dredd, Aquila, Proteus Vex and Indigo Prime, once again it’s a line-up thrumming with so much Thrill-power that it threatens the very fabric of your reality. What can be done? Why, pour more on, of course, with the release this week of Meg 467, featuring a complete Dredd story from Mike Carroll and Paul Marshall, more DeMarco, P.I., Devlin Waugh and Harrower Squad, and the return of Brit-Cit Detective Judge Armitage courtesy of Liam Johnson and Warren Pleece.

Add to that chats with Chris Weston, Igor Goldkind and more, it’s a ghafflebette package you mustn’t miss, Terrans!

2000 AD Prog 2378 is out now from all good newsagents and comic book stores, plus digitally from our webshop and apps! Don’t forget that if you buy an issue of 2000 AD in the first week of its release then postage in the UK is free!

2000 AD Prog 2377 out now!

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2377 is OUT NOW!

I am The Mighty Tharg, a cosmic being from Betelgeuse with the awesome power to Thrill!

You know, a question many of your species has pondered over the last few years has been to do with the nature of reality — or, more pertinently, is what you’re witnessing actually what it purports to be? Yes, I’m talking about Is it Cake?, a televisual journey into existentialism that asks you — can you truly rely on your senses that you’ve used to navigate this world since birth? Or are you being fooled, and notions of what you thought was real can easily be undone? Is that really a shoe? A handbag? A bowl of fruit? Or is it just cake?

It’s something I mull over here in the Command Module in this age of manipulated reality — replace cake with artificial intelligence and it becomes more sinister. Do I hold in my hand something that was created by a single imagination, or a code inputted into a program? Is it what it claims to be, or an approximation of a creative endeavour? A computerised recreation of artistry?

Needless to say, nothing but pure zarjaz creativity here in these pages, with the return of Aquila and the finale to Full Tilt Boogie. Be here in seven for the start for Brink Book Six, humes!

2000 AD Prog 2377 is out now from all good newsagents and comic book stores, plus digitally from our webshop and apps! Don’t forget that if you buy an issue of 2000 AD in the first week of its release then postage in the UK is free!

2000 AD Prog 2365 out now!

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2365 is OUT NOW!

Tharg The Mighty here, Thrill-connoisseur from Quaxxann, bringing you your weekly action!

Alas the melancholy news continues into 2024 — after reporting Ian Gibson’s death last prog, all of us here in the Command Module were very sad to hear that Judge Dredd, Nikolai Dante and The Order artist John Burns died on 29 December.

Although John chose to retire last year — you’ll be able to read the last series he contributed to, the Kek-W-scripted Nightmare, New York, at some point in the near future, with David Roach taking over on art duties — he leaves behind an incredible body of work, with a generation of readers encountering his pages in different titles. His career started in the late fifties, and in the sixties he was drawing for the likes of TV Century 21 and girls’ comics such as Diana and June as well as daily newspaper strips. By the seventies and eighties, he could be found in TV Comic, Eagle and Look-In, illustrating UFO, The Bionic Woman and The Fists of Danny Pyke, before making his 2000 AD debut in 1991.

One of the last of the old-school painters, his glorious pages were beautiful to hold and pore over, channelling decades of experience in comics. RIP, John.

2000 AD Prog 2364 out now!

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2364 is OUT NOW!

I am The Mighty Tharg, all-powerful alien super-being at the helm of this SF anthology!!

Due to the inevitable delay in interstellar shipping, it means that that this prog is sent to the print-bots a couple of weeks before Xmas, but you Squaxx won’t see it until the second week of January. As a consequence, this news has already circulated widely online, but nevertheless I must pay tribute to art-droid Ian Gibson, who sadly passed away on 11 December after a long battle with cancer.

One of 2000 AD’s longest-serving artists, contributing to the first Dredd multi-parter The Robot Wars in 1977, and going on to draw a huge number of classic Dredd stories as well as co-creating Robo-Hunter with John Wagner and The Ballad of Halo Jones with Alan Moore, he leaves an extraordinary legacy in the pages of the Galaxy’s Greatest.

With his unmistakable style, combining humour, action and beautiful characterisation, he was a brilliant storyteller — whether it was the crazed robots in Verdus, the gang war in Rumble in the Jungle or future-war on Moab in Halo Jones, he could handle it all, and the pages glowed with energy and excitement.

Rest in peace, Ian. You will be much missed.

ATTENTION, EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2362 is OUT NOW!

BORAG THUNGG, EARTHLETS! Iam The Mighty Tharg, all-powerful alien editor of this award-winning SF anthology — prepare for Xmas overload!

Welcome, my Thrill-hungry humanoids, to the traditional end-of- year bumper prog, where we both celebrate your planet’s festive season and also cap another scrotnig twelve months of circuit-frying amazingness. It’s an issue of two halves this time around — in the latter half, we have the ongoing Thrills Helium, The Devil’s Railroad, Enemy Earth and Feral & Foe, continuing from their autumn runs and going on into the beginning of 2024.

Front-loaded in this pulse-pounding prog, however, are a selection of self-contained one-off stories starring some of the Galaxy’s Greatest’s most iconic characters. Judge Dredd’s here of course (in a manner of speaking) and visited by the ghosts of his past, courtesy of Ken Niemand and Tom Foster, plus there’s new adventures for Rogue Trooper in Runaway by the Wessel and Coleby droids, Anderson, Psi-Division in The Game Within by Torunn Grobekk and Kieran McKeown, and Strontium Dog in Alpha by Rufus Hound and Dan Cornwell, a seasonal Fiends of the Eastern Front tale by the Edginton and Trevallion droids, and the latest chapter of Dan Abentt and Tazio Bettin’s Azimuth.

Phew! Quite the packed prog, I think you’ll agree, my Squaxx. Remember, Terrans, that this ghafflebette issue is on sale for three weeks, so I’ll see you all again on 3 January 2024 for more SF excitement. Have a zarjaz Christmas and New Year, humes!
