Welcome to the September Megazine, and alongside the latest instalments of Devlin Waugh, Angelic and The Returners we have the final episode of Diamond Dogs II and a complete Dredd thriller from Rory McConville and Nick Dyer, How Do You
Solve a Problem Like Francisco?, that acts as an epilogue to the Project Providence storyline as Ol’ Stoney-Face assesses the fitness of Dan Francisco post-kidnapping.

We’ll be returning to the consequences of MC-1’s PP scandal, and its place in the global community, in McConville and Staz Johnson’s four-parter Praise Zort!, coming early next year. Elsewhere in this issue, we’ve got interviews with former editorial droid Simon Geller and designer turned prose novelist Rian Hughes, plus Rob Williams reveals the secrets of Out, his and Will Conrad’s new WWII/vampire title from US publishers AWA.

The Williams script-bot returns to Dredd in 2000 AD this month, partnering with Arthur Wyatt and Jake Lynch for the Atlantis-set The Hard Way, starting in jumping-on issue Prog 2250, where you’ll also find new series of Scarlet Traces, The Diaboliks, Pandora Perfect and, er, The Out! If you’re a subscriber you may have received this on Saturday 14 August (another good reason, of course, to have your Thrill-power delivered direct to your door), in which case there’s just enough time to remind you that it’s Free Comic
Book Day on the 14th, moved from its usual May slot because of the pandemic.

Judge Dredd Megazine 434 is out now!

As well as working as a warning about a future society being ruled by a militarised polise force, the Judge Dredd strip has also presented a twenty-second century in which the planet is irrevocably scarred by nuclear war and environmental collapse.

The Cursed Earth is an irradiated wasteland, the Black Atlantic polluted to the point where any life within it isseverely mutated, and most produce is now synthetically created. It’s a bleak vision of a post-apocalyptic Earth, and if we want to stop it becoming a reality we all need to play a part in preventing climate change.

Paul Goodenough’s Rewriting Extinction project is the latest to draw attention to the crisis with a massive comic-book populated by three hundred writers, artists, activists and film-makers, from Alan Moore to Ricky Gervais. You can find out more about the initiative within this Meg.
