TC Eglington and Simon Davis ‘Thistlebone’ signing announced

To celebrate the release of the second collection of chilling folk horror series THISTLEBONE, creators TC Eglington and Simon Davis will be signing at Gosh Comics in London on Saturday 14 May from 1-2pm.

Described by A Field in England director Ben Wheatley as “folk horror that will burrow under your skin”, Thistlebone is a sinister slow-burn of a series set in contemporary Britain, where the survivor of a bizarre woodland cult struggles to find answers to what happened to her.

It’s been over a year since journalist Seema Chaudry accompanied survivor Avril Easton back to the village of Harrowvale, the site of her terrifying experiences at the hands of the worshippers led by Jasper Hillman, a crazed occult cult that believed in the ancient woodland deity known only as Thistlebone.Intended as a cathartic experience, both women were changed forever by what they were confronted with. In the process of researching for a book on the Thistlebone legend, Seema believes much of it centres around one man — Malcolm Kinniburgh.

The hardcover collection of Thistlebone: Poisoned Roots is out on 11 May and is available to pre-order now.

THIS WEEKEND: Bolland & McMahon ‘The Cursed Earth Uncensored’ signing

In association with 2000 AD, Gosh Comics! in London is hosting a signing for the release of Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth Uncensored with artists Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon!  The signing will be from 1-2pm on Saturday, July 16th.

When first serialised back in 1978, the Judge Dredd epic ‘The Cursed Earth’  originally included the now-infamous episodes ‘Burger Wars’ and ‘Soul Food’. These two chapters featured parodies of famous corporate characters such as Ronald McDonald and the Jolly Green Giant, and were quickly buried thanks to a litigious backlash, the settlement including an agreement that they would never be reprinted.

However, thanks to some landmark changes in UK laws in 2014 regarding copyright and parody, The Cursed Earth is now able to be printed in it’s entirety. For the first time ever, the entire storyline by Pat Mills, John Wagner, Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon is to be collected together in a single hardcover volume, including all of it’s beautiful full-colour spreads. At long last, it’s Judge Dredd: The Cursed Earth Uncensored!

Come along on Saturday the 16th July from 1-2pm to celebrate this long-awaited release aslegendary artists Brian Bolland and Mike McMahon will be there for a very special UK exclusive signing.
