Tales of Telguuth: a tribute to Steve Moore

2000 AD to publish collection of late writer’s fantasy series

In March 2014, British comics lost one of its most distinct voices – the writer and visionary, Steve Moore.

To honour one of the country’s most singular and creative talents, 2000 AD is publishing a collection of his short-story fantasy series, Tales of Telguuth, this March.

The paperback collection includes a brand new introduction from Alan Moore (no relation), for whom Steve was a close friend, mentor and major influence.

The father of the 2000 AD ‘Future Shock’ – which came to become the proving ground for writers such as Alan Moore, Grant Morrison, Mark Millar, and Peter Milligan – Steve created many memorable characters including Lazer Erazer and Axel Pressbutton for Warrior, and the psychotic ‘Dalek Killer’ Abslom Daak for the Doctor Who Magazine.

He was also instrumental in the creation of Fortean Times magazine, which chronicles bizarre and unexplained phenomena, wrote for countless British and American comics publishers, and was recently the subject of an extensive interview series, the Hermit of Shooters Hill, on comics blog The Beat.

Tales of Telguuth collects together the stories from the highly-regarded fantasy series which Moore developed for 2000 AD, along with some of his classic Future Shocks.

It features fully-painted artwork from Greg Staples and showcases Moore’s prodigious imagination and keen talent for storytelling, creating a world of warriors and tricksters, mages and monsters, where gods are real and play with man and beast alike for their sport!

Tales of Telguuth is a fitting tribute to a great and writer, filled with what Alan Moore describes as “rare and gorgeously bedizened little masterpieces”.
