The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast Lockdown Tapes – Colin Wilson

Welcome to the fifteenth of The Lockdown Tapes as The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast continues to broadcast the joys of Thrill-power during the COVID-19 pandemic! Got a theme or interview you’d like to hear? Let us know at thrillcast@2000AD.com

Although Colin Wilson’s initial time at 2000 AD was brief, his work on strips such as Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper was an influential hit with readers. From Judge Dredd: The Sweet Taste of Justice in the 2000 AD Sci-Fi Special 1981 to Rogue Trooper: Marauders in Progs 282 to 289, Wilson’s style – influenced by European comics such as those by Jean “Moebius” Giraud – showcased his dystopian techno-futurism and fascinating eye for design. Going on to work on the iconic French Western series Blueberry, Wilson is unusual in having success in British, French, and American comics, including work on Star Wars and with writers such as Metz, Ed Brubaker, and Andy Diggle. Wilson joins the Thrill-Cast to delve into his fascinating career, from squatting in London to being mentored by Brian Bolland, from living and working in Provence to settling in the Australian city of Melbourne.
