The Dark Judges – before they were (in)famous!
11th May 2016
With its harrowing look at the dark days leading up to the creation of The Dark Judges, Tainted: The Fall of Deadworld races towards its conclusion next week – but the 2000 AD blog is pleased to bring you a little behind-the-scenes look at the four undead superfiends from a dimension where all life is a crime!
Created after series artist Dave Kendall had a nightmare featuring the fearsome foursome and written by Kek-W, Tainted has been winning over readers with its chilling look at life for ordinary folk on the Dark Judges’ homeworld before it became know as ‘Deadworld’.
Kendall has shared with us some of his designs for the proto Dark Judges, which make a small cameo in this week’s Prog!
Judge Fear and Judge Fire retain elements of their original Deadworld Judge uniforms and while Fear doesn’t have his famous grate yet, he keeps a curtain across his visor to hide the horrors beneath. Kendall describes Judge Mortis as “on the turn”, well on his way to becoming the purveyor of putrefaction who, along with his brethren, has terrorised Mega-City One many times.
Dave has also exclusively shared with us a new pen and ink drawing of his version of Judge Death!
Tainted concludes in 2000 AD Prog 1981, which is on sale in print and digital on 18th May!
