The 2000 AD Thrill-Cast: When Comics Went To War @ NYCC

From Captain America punching Hitler to the horrors of the Somme in Charley’s War, war stories have been an enduring genre of comic books since their earliest days.

At New York Comic Con, Rebellion came together with new US publisher Dead Reckoning, part of the Naval Institute, for a panel in which experienced creators discuss bringing tales of conflict to the page. Writer Garth Ennis (Preacher), Alex De Campi (Dredd) and Wayne Vansant (Katusha) were joined by Gary Thompson from Dead Reckoning, and the panel was hosted by Mike Molcher from Rebellion.

The panel discussed their own experience of reading war comics before moving on to a variety of topics such as how they portray conflict, the part personal testimonies of war can play, treading the line between reality and entertainment, and much more!
