Saddle up! It’s time for the Slaughter Bowl!

The latest title in 2000 AD‘s series of digital-only collections, John Smith and Paul Peart’s Slaughter Bowl is a no-holds-barred, riot of reptilian rampage!

It’s the worst day of Stanley Modest’s life. He’s been fired, no-one likes him, and the doctors want to pull the plug on his dangerously ill wife. To top it all off the police find hundreds of bodies buried in his house – including his own children!

Although he protests his innocence he is convicted and ends up on death row.

For Stanley, there is only one way out – the Slaughter Bowl! A deadly battle royale where criminals riding dinosaurs attempt to annihilate each other for cash and prizes!

Collected in digital-only graphic novel form for the first time, this unforgettable strip was part of 2000 AD’s infamous ‘Summer Offensive’ in 1993, when writers Mark Millar, Grant Morrison, and John Smith were let loose to rewrite the recipe for thrill-power with an all-out assault on the senses!

Will Stanley survive? Will he earn enough for his wife’s life-saving surgery? And where did all those bodies come from? Find out for yourself in Slaughter Bowl!

2000 AD Prog 2234 is out now!

2000 AD Prog 2234 is out now! Featuring more new Feral & Foe, plus brand new Judge Dredd, Mechastopheles, Department K and Chimpsky’s Law!

BORAG THUNGG, EARTHLETS – Prog 2234 is OUT NOW!

We’re back, Squaxx, after last week’s all-ages divergence, and there’s no less than four new stories to get your Terran teeth into.

Alongside Feral & Foe, you’ll find within these pages the start of the first full-length series for Regened hit Department K, with art-bot Dan Cornwell joining regular writer Rory McConville, plus the Niemand and Holden droids reunite for Noam Chimpsky’s
first solo strip.

Add to that the return of demonic robot Mechastopheles from the Two Rennies and Boo Cook (if you missed the earlier series, make sure you catch the reprint in Meg 433, out 16 June), and a complete Dredd thriller from Chris Weston, marking the end of a particular aspect of JD history, and it’s a seriously scrotnig line-up!

But it’s been a time of sadness in the 2000 AD community too as we heard the news last month that Dave Evans (often credited as Bolt-01) had died. Editor of 2000 AD fanzines Zarjaz, Dogbreath and Futurequake, he was familiar face at conventions, and as friendly a fan as you could hope to meet.

His unswerving dedication to the small-press scene was huge, and he will be much missed. RIP, Bolt.

talents — from precognition to exorcism, projection to pyrokinesis, it deals with all manner of paranormal crimes, and is often the city’s first defence against supernatural threats. Cassandra ANDERSON is Justice Department’s top telepath — warm, empathetic and often flippant, she’s not your usual Judge, and she still sees the good in the Big Meg’s citizens. Recently, she’s become aware of incursions by an alien species seeking to bring order to planet Earth. Realising that they’ll attack soon, she’s chosen to head them off in space…

PANDORA PERFECT // Night of the Guffwarbler!

Just when the authorities thought that they’d finally managed to incarcerate her, her loyal robot assistant Gort came to her rescue and succeeded in breaking her out of her cell. Despite being a wanted woman, Pandora’s still up to her usual confidence tricks, and now she’s looking to score a big payday by stealing the very rare Guffwarbler…

The psychic personnel of Psi-Division, for example, are at the forefront in the fight against supernatural foes, while Tek-Div conducts all manner of experiments and develops advanced weaponry. The mysterious DEPARTMENT K is a branch of the latter, whose brief is to tackle interdimensional enemies that are seeking to break through the walls of reality. 2000 AD Prog 2230 is out now!

2000 AD Prog 2230 is out now, with more new Judge Dredd, Thistlebone, Visions of Deadworld, Feral & Foe, plus the start of an all new 3riller!

BORAG THUNGG, EARTHLETS – Prog 2230 is OUT NOW!

The third of Tharg’s trio of spring 3rillers starts this prog with Arthur Wyatt and Pye Parr reuniting for another tale of those gut-busting ‘bots the Intestinauts in the scrotnig Symbiotic Love Triangle (which, admittedly, sounds like one of the prog-rock noodlers we used to listen to back in the seventies).

Elsewhere, we reach the zarjaz finales for both Dredd’s current case, A Penitent Man (which, judging by the feedback, has gone down a storm with you Squaxx) and the current arc of Visions of Deadworld, and folk-horror Thistlebone and fantasy epic Feral & Foe barrel towards their climaxes in a few weeks’ time.

That can only mean ghafflebette new Thrills are waiting in the wings, such as Department K’s first full-length series and
Noam Chimpsky’s solo outing, Chimpsky’s Law!

But before that there’s the matter of the second of 2021’s Regened issues, heading your way in Prog 2233 — a collection of all-ages stories overseen by Tharg’s indefatigable nephew Joko-Jargo. Once again, it’ll be a bumper forty-eight pages, and with the likes of Anderson, Psi-Division and Pandora Perfect returning, you won’t want to miss it, Terrans!

2000 AD Prog 2229 is out now!

2000 AD Prog 2229 is out now, with more new Judge Dredd, Thistlebone, Visions of Deadworld and Feral & Foe, plus a scrotnig new Future Shock!

BORAG THUNGG, EARTHLETS – Prog 2229 is OUT NOW!

Welcome back to your weekly hit of cosmic zarjazness, Terrans, as the crack squad of creator-droids seek to supercharge your reality with the gift of the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic.

Alongside the scrotnig ongoing arcs for Judge Dredd, Feral & Foe and Thistlebone, this prog also features a complete Future Shock by Mark McCann and Glenn Fabry, and the start of a two-part Vision of Deadworld from Kek-W and Dave Kendall!

The week that Tharg’s dictating these words to the cowering editorial note-taker/foot-rest sees non-essential shops in England open for the first time in months as lockdown restrictions ease. Many of you Squaxx will no doubt be keen to get back to your regular routine of picking up this Mighty Organ from your local Thrill-merchant every Wednesday, and we sincerely hope that this is the start of the process of returning to something resembling normality.

After twelve months and more of Tharg’s minions being scattered to their domiciles, we will have to consider at some point when to open up the Command Module and bring them all back in. Will be kind of weird having them knocking about the place again…

Preview: Time Flies by Garth Ennis, Philip Bond, John Beeston and Roger Landridge!

Ahead of its release in a couple of weeks’ time we’re excited to share a preview of the next title in our series of digital-only 2000 AD collections – Time Flies!

First published in the 90s in Progs 700 to 711, and returning as Tempus Fugitive in progs 1015-1023, Time Flies was a time travel comedy series written by Garth Ennis following the misadventures of Squadron Leader Bertie Sharp, a WWII fighter pilot, and future time cop Trace Bullet as they try to recapture Herman Goering from pirates… on a time travelling JCB.

While since its initial publication Ennis has been vocal in his dislike for the series, there’s still a huge amount to enjoy here – this is silly fun, packed with affectionate absurdity, and full to the brim of Philip Bond’s effortlessly cool artwork.

You can check out the first four pages of Time Flies below, and it’s out on May 5th – available from the 2000 AD app, as DRM-free download from the 2000 AD webshop, and on Amazon Kindle devices.

The new digital releases will be available from the 2000 AD app for Apple, Android, and Windows 10 devices, as DRM-free PDF/CBZ downloads from the 2000 AD webshop, and on Amazon Kindle devices.
