Judge Anderson & Lawmaster set – coming in 2023 from Hiya Toys

Even a psychic cop who can ride the astral plane has to get from A to B – the twin-pack of Judge Cassandra Anderson and the formidable Lawmaster bike are joining the new line of Judge Dredd figures from Hiya Toys.

Rebellion and Hiya Toys are proud to unveil the latest in the brand new range of 1:18 PVC action figures based on the world of Judge Dredd, from the pages of the bestselling comic British comic, 2000 AD!

With her powerful psychic abilities and irreverent wit, Judge Anderson is one of 2000 AD’s biggest characters – the perfect foil for Judge Dredd since her debut in 1981 but so popular she soon broke out into her own series. Co-created by writer John Wagner and legendary artist Brian Bolland (Batman: The Killing Joke, Camelot 3000), and immortalised by actor Olivia Thirlby in the 2012 movie Dredd, Anderson brings her special power to patrolling the mean streets of Mega-City One.

Originally designed by Carlos Ezquerra when he created Judge Dredd, the Lawmaster is the fearsome motorbike the Judges use to patrol the crime-ridden streets and mega-ways of Mega-City One. With its twin bike cannons it can blow away perps as its on-board computer and artificial intelligence provides everything from criminal records to voice scans and can even drive itself.

Due to ship from Hiya in China in the first quarter of 2023 and retailing at $69.99 (USD), the Anderson figure comes with 16 points of articulation, shoulder and joint pads, chain and badge of office, utility belt, Lawgiver and ‘daystick’ truncheon. The gorgeously crafted Lawmaster bike comes with turning wheels and a turnable front section, while the headlights and computer screen can be illuminated.

This set is the latest addition to the brand new range of fully poseable 1:18 figures due to begin arriving in stores and online from this autumn, and will come shipped in an attractive protective cardboard window box.

Due to pressure on international shipping caused by the pandemic dates, the shipping dates for the new range have had to be set back. Please note, these are the dates for when Hiya Toys ships from China, not when they are due in stores:

I Am The Law: How Judge Dredd Predicted Our Future – pre-order now!

I AM THE LAW: HOW JUDGE DREDD PREDICTED OUR FUTURE

He is the law – and you better believe it! Pre-order the new brand new book that examines how Judge Dredd predicted the future.

Judge, jury and executioner, Judge Dredd is the brutal comic book cop policing the chaotic future urban jungle of Mega-City One, created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra and launching in the pages of 2000 AD in 1977.

But what began as a sci-fi action comic quickly evolved into a searing satire on hardline, militarised policing and ‘law and order’ politics, its endless inventiveness and ironic humour acting as a prophetic warning about our world today – and with important lessons for our future.

Blending comic book history with contemporary radical theories on policing, I Am The Law by writer and comics critic Michael Molcher takes key Dredd stories from the last 45 years and demonstrates how they provide a unique wake up call about our gradual, and not so gradual, slide towards authoritarian policing.

From the politicisation of policing to ‘zero tolerance’, from violent suppression of protest to the rise of the surveillance state, I Am The Law examines how a comic book warned us about the chilling endgame of today’s ‘law and order’ politics.

The paperback of I Am The Law: How Judge Dredd Predicted Our Future is out on 23 February 2023 and is available to pre-order now!

  • Out on 23 February 2023
  • Price: £14.99 / $19.99

PROG 2299 out now

BORAG THUNGG, YOUNG EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Prog 2299 is OUT NOW!

I am The Mighty Tharg, Betelgeusian overlord supercharging your realities with Thrill-power!

All the scrotnig current stories wrap up this issue, Terrans, with Dexter and Jaegir returning next year, and Skip Tracer signing off on its last ever episode.

Usually for an autumn jumping-on prog I have a line-up of all-new strips to follow a series of endings such as this, but this year we’re doing something a little different. Prog 2300 is going to be a bumper 48-page bonanza of zombie horror as the undead infection spreads across the whole 2000 AD multiverse, affecting everyone from Sam Slade to the Survival Geeks, Rogue Trooper to the Mean Arena.

Why are the stars of the Galaxy’s Greatest being reduced to shambling, flesh-hungry corpses? Well, you’ll have to wait seven days to find out, but let me just say that September 2022 marks thirty years since Sabbat the Necromagus was defeated in the mega-epic Judgement Day… This is a story too big to contain within the covers of the pulse-pounding weekly, so it’ll be crossing over with Judge Dredd Megazine 448, also on sale next week (though make sure you read the prog first). The ghouls are go on 21 September, my Squaxx!

2000 AD Prog 2299 is out now from all good newsagents and comic book stores, plus digitally from our webshop and apps! Don’t forget that if you buy an issue of 2000 AD in the first week of its release then postage in the UK is free!

PROG 2296 out now

BORAG THUNGG, YOUNG EARTHLETS – 2000 AD Regened Prog 2296 is OUT NOW!

Joko-Jargo here again, bringing you another special all-ages edition of the Galaxy’s Greatest!

Welcome to the third Regened issue of 2022. I’m sure you know the score by now, but if there are any newcomers amongst the Terrans poring through these Thrill-packed pages, then let me offer you cosmic greetings and explain that four times a year my Uncle Tharg passes me the keys to the Command Module — which he doesn’t do lightly, believe me — and allows me to take over 2000 AD, pulling together these bumper progs aimed at a wide audience, with one-off and brand-new stories, ideal for those dipping their toes into the Mighty One’s emerald empire.

This issue is no exception, with Cadet Dredd tackling mutant slavers in the Cursed Earth in Two Tribes, dwarf private detective Renk embroiled in a case involving a princess’s missing parents in the debut episode of a new fantasy series, Simon, Sam and the kids going on a day trip to the centre of Howard’s guts in ‘Splorers, and Department K having an overload of Estabons (don’t miss the forthcoming collection of previous Dept K stories, hitting the shelves in November). All this plus a synapse-searing Future Shock in which the world’s inequalities are solved in a flash (or are they?), and it’s another zarjaz line-up!

2000 AD Regened Prog 2296 is out now from all good newsagents and comic book stores, plus digitally from our webshop and apps! Don’t forget that if you buy an issue of 2000 AD in the first week of its release then postage in the UK is free!

CADET DREDD // Two Tribes

Mega-City One, 2077 AD. Home to over 800 million citizens, this urban hell is situated along the east coast of post-apocalyptic North America. On one side is the polluted Black Atlantic, and to the west is the blasted radlands of the Cursed Earth. Overcrowding in the metropolis is rife, unemployment is at ninety per cent, boredom is universal and crime is rampant. Only the Judges — a zero-tolerance police force empowered to dispense instant justice — can stop total anarchy. CADET JOE DREDD — together with his clone-brother Rico — is a rising star in Justice Department, and will one day be its finest officer. Make no mistake, he is the Law!

Script: Paul Starkey / Art: Anna Readman / Colours: Matt Soffe / Letters: Jim Campbell

RENK

Crepuscularia is the biggest city in the eastern region, sitting on the edge of the Weeping Desert, home to over fifty thousand beings. It’s a massive melting pot, in which entities of all types live together amongst its narrow streets, and next to anything is bought and sold from the various traders. But if you want someone or something found, and you don’t have the gold to employ a wizard, or the silver for a warrior, then dwarf RENK will take your copper coin. A wily private detective, his diminutive stature belies a dogged determination to locate his quarry, and he knows the vast metropolis like the back of his hand…

Script: David Barnett / Art: Steve Roberts / Letters: Annie Parkhouse

FUTURE SHOCK // Levelling Up

Out in the vast reaches of the universe, there are an infinite number of stories waiting to be told. These cautionary tales pass from traveller to traveller in the spaceports and around campfires on distant planets, acquiring the status of legend, their shocking ends a salutory lesson in hubris. Anything is possible in these twisted trips into the galaxy’s dark side. Abandon your preconceptions, and expect the unexpected. Now, at some point in the future, the gap between the haves and the have-nots will grow ever wider. When the incredibly wealthy Jon Mozes discovers that his fortune has now reached 7.8 quintillion dollars, what is his next step…?

The psychic personnel of Psi-Division, for example, are at the forefront in the fight against supernatural foes, while Tek-Div conducts all manner of experiments and develops advanced weaponry. The mysterious DEPARTMENT K is a branch of the latter, whose brief is to tackle interdimensional enemies that are seeking to break through the walls of reality. ‘SPLORERS // The Big Splash

Once upon a time there were three twentysomething geeks — Simon, Rufus and Clive — who shared what looked like an ordinary semi-detached on a regular suburban street. But Clive had fitted the house with a transdimensional drive that enabled it to cross time and space, although it malfunctioned and they spent years bouncing between worlds. Joined by sceptical new housemate Sam, their travels finally came to an end when they returned to Earth and became responsible adults — Rufus entered politics, Clive became a CEO, and Simon and Sam got together as a couple, eventually having kids. But the adventures didn’t stop there…
